SunSwept Sailing Guidelines

Cancellation, Refunds, & Payment Options

We get it — mistakes happen and plans change. SunSwept Sailing offers a simple, fair cancellation policy that protects your plans and our small, private operation.

1) 24-Hour Risk-Free Cancellation (Refund)

All reservations include free cancellation for 24 hours after booking — no questions asked.
If you cancel within 24 hours of booking, you may receive a full refund of the base charter rate, less any non-refundable service/booking fees.

2) Standard Cancellation Policy (Non-Members) — Credit Only

After the initial 24-hour risk-free cancellation window:
  • 72+ hours before departure: You may cancel and receive a SunSwept house credit for 100% of the base charter rate (no cash refunds).
  • Inside 72 hours of departure: No refunds, credits, or rescheduling, without express permission from management.
House credits never expire, have no cash value, and may be applied toward a future booking (subject to availability).

3) Last-Minute Bookings (Departing Within 24 Hours)

Bookings made within 24 hours of departure are considered last-minute:
  • Refund window: A full refund of the base charter rate may be issued only if written notice is received within 3 hours of booking.
  • After that, last-minute bookings are not eligible for refunds, credits, or rescheduling, without express permission from management.

4) Weekends / Major Holidays

Charters booked on designated major holidays are non-refundable after the initial 24-hour risk-free cancellation window.
Weekends are designated as Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holiday Mondays.

5) No-Shows / Late Arrivals

Any guest who does not arrive at the meeting point within 30 minutes of the scheduled departure time without prior communication will be considered a no-show and the charter will be cancelled with no refund or credit.

6) Catering & Floral Add-Ons (Always Non-Refundable)

Catering and floral add-ons are always non-refundable, whether the guest cancels or SunSwept cancels for any reason.
  • Catering must be requested at least 72 hours in advance and is subject to availability.
  • If an add-on cannot be fulfilled due to availability, SunSwept will refund the add-on portion only.
  • If a charter is canceled, catering may be available for pickup at the original date/time (when feasible).

7) Weather, Safety, and Operator Cancellations

If SunSwept Sailing cancels a charter due to weather, safety, or operational concerns, guests may choose one of the following for the base charter rate:
  • Reschedule, or
  • Receive a SunSwept house credit, or
  • Receive a refund if the guest cannot be rescheduled or prefers not to accept a credit.
(Catering and floral add-ons remain non-refundable as stated above.)

8) Refund Method & Fees

All refunds (when applicable) will be credited to the original form of payment and are less non-refundable service/booking fees and less any non-refundable add-ons.

9) Payment Options

We accept all major credit cards. Non-refundable service fees may be charged on all reservations using a credit/debit card as payment. Customary gratuity and service fees are not included in list pricing.

Kelpie Club Membership Policies (in addition to the standard policy above)

Kelpie Club members receive all standard protections above, plus additional flexibility and perks.

1) Member Courtesy Cancellation (48+ Hours — Credit)

After the initial 24-hour risk-free cancellation window, Kelpie Club members may cancel 48 hours or more before departure and receive a SunSwept house credit for 100% of the base charter rate (no cash refunds).
  • This benefit applies to the base charter rate only.
  • House credits never expire.
  • Catering and floral add-ons are always non-refundable.

2) Member Last-Minute Bookings

For member bookings created within 24 hours of departure, the 3-hour refund window still applies. After that window, last-minute bookings are not eligible for refunds, credits, or rescheduling without management discretion.

3) Complimentary Platter (If Included)

If your Kelpie Club membership includes a complimentary platter, it must be requested 72+ hours prior to departure and is subject to catering availability. Complimentary platters are not redeemable for cash.

ADA Accessibility

Due to Waterfront and Harbor dock conditions, our slip is not ADA accessible without risk. Passengers must board the vessel through a series of steps and must be ambulatory enough to board the vessel with limited assistance. There is no space on board to accommodate mobility devices. USCG federal regulations require marine operators to insure the safety of all passengers on board. Due to variable conditions caused by wind and sea state certain disabled passengers, service or therapy animals may not be allowed. In compliance with USCG federal safety regulations, access to the vessel is at the sole discretion of the captain.

Inclement Weather

Cruises, charters, or lessons scheduled during unfavorable weather such as rain, fog, high or low temperatures that do not pose any risk to safety (rain, fog, temperature, etc.) will still operate as planned. Non-expiring house credits and/or full refunds are available when it is determined by our captain that the current sea and/or wind conditions deem it potentially unsafe to be on the water. This call may be made by the captain up to 1 hour prior to departure.

Conduct & Safety Precaution

The captain reserves the right to terminate the charter, cruise or lesson early if conditions become unsafe due to the excessive consumption of alcohol, unsafe or unruly behavior, or the use or possession of illegal drugs. No refunds or credits will be issued due to early termination under these circumstances.

Cannabis & Alcohol

Even though recreational and prescription use of cannabis is legal in California, it is not legal while boating because the ocean is considered Federal water. Any form of illegal drugs, or cannabis, are not permitted for any reason. The Charterer will be held liable for the full value of the vessel should anything happen to the boat or business including a loss of income, license, permits, or similar due to the use or possession of illegal drugs. Beverages may be purchased from the yacht’s bar underway, outside alcohol consumed aboard may be subject to corkage fees. Please drink responsibly. The captain reserves the right to terminate the charter, cruise or lesson early if conditions become unsafe due to the excessive consumption of alcohol, unsafe or unruly behavior, or the use or possession of illegal drugs. No refunds or credits will be issued due to early termination under these circumstances.

Cleaning Fees

Guests who create an excessive mess from food, spilled wine, vomit, pet hair, etc., requiring special cleanup will be charged $50 per item for dry cleaning fees, upholstery cleaning, scrubbing and sanitization. Additional fees may be assessed if damage to the vessel is incurred.

Capacity & Weight

6 passenger maximum aboard at all times, not including captain & crew. Infants and children count as full passengers according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Passengers who are over 250lbs may be required to sit in specific areas aboard the vessel to comply with federal load limits. If the captain determines a passenger or group of passengers will overload the vessel, the captain reserves the right to deny entry aboard the vessel. If you are concerned about exceeding the weight limit of the vessel, please reach out to us prior to reserving your charter.
